Six Months After The Move

I walked out of the house to a VERY Brisk Kentucky morning today. Our lives have been a whirlwind of traveling back and forth between Kentucky and our house in Florida for the last 8 months now. I am coming to the end of what has been my longest stay back in the bluegrass since we partially relocated to Pensacola Florida. We leased our house back in February, but we really don't count our move date until mid April, when Sara began videoing full time.

We have people ask us all the time if it was the right decision. Before going any further I will say it is a resounding YES! Now do not be mis-understood it has its challenges. We miss our parents, friends and family, and the boys definitely miss their grandparents and friends. It has been nine days since I saw the boys or Sara as they had work in Florida while I had obligations here in Kentucky. For the first time in seventeen years of marriage Sara and I were not together on our Anniversary this year. So the challenges are there, but the overall effect it has had has been amazing.

We moved to a town we had never even been to. Seriously, not once! I had been all over the Florida panhandle but had never once stepped foot in Pensacola. I can say however without a shadow of a doubt it was love at first sight! Our Florida home is amazing, not too big, but just the right size for us and our needs. I can see the water from my front window, which is closer than I ever imagined I would be. Mind you I have to look past a big yellow tow motor and a couple port a pottys to see it, but it is there none the less.

We have adapted to the Florida lifestyle. With our schedule our weekends are not typical weekend days. If you try to call me Friday - Sunday there is a good chance I am working. We do not get to see the kids on the "weekends" as much as we like, Also believe it or not the kids still have an abundant love for pizza even though that is usually what their lunch is on Friday and Saturday. But we sure do make up for it on Mondays! Do you know how awesome Mondays can be if you make them your Saturday?

We have had countless friends and family visits that have been full of laughs and great times. We want to share our excitement with all those around us! That has always been important to us and always will be.

While walking down Palafox the other day I had a younger couple stop me and ask for directions to somewhere, I honestly do not even remember now. Without hesitation I pointed them in the direction they needed to go. I must have had the biggest smile on my face ever when I turned back to Sara, because she looked at me and said, do you feel like a local now. I just nodded yes and we continued on our walk. That really was the first time I felt like that was our town. I have had that feeling my whole life growing up in Shelbyville. I can tell you everything about this town good or bad LOL. We are getting there in Pensacola.

The first Six months in Florida have been amazing, Honestly I cannot wait to get on that plane tomorrow night and head home. I am ready to see My beautiful wife, My two boys, who I am sure will look like they have grown four feet since last friday, and heck I am even excited to see the dog I wasn't sure I wanted. We are so excited to see what the next six months brings us for our personal lives and our business! Kentucky will always have my heart, there is no denying that, But Florida sure is making it easy to plant a few roots!
